This afternoon Natalie and I were on the train platform waiting for the #2 to pull up. Downtown trains were running on the express lane, therefore no one was waiting on the other side. Suddenly, a man from our side of the platform jumped into the tracks. No one reacted. He climbed over the electrified rails and was in the middle rail when a train came rolling into view, about 50 feet away from him. He glanced at it and hobbled over the rail. As he got to the other side he climbed onto the platform and threw away a napkin. Then he walked over to the elevator and took it down. No one was alarmed. No one said anything. After a couple of seconds, it finally hit me what had happened and I freaked out to Natalie, who in turn freaked out back at me.
What. Just. Happened?!
I'm not sure what we were supposed to do. call 911? and say what? Hey dispatcher. There's a man who's crossing the tracks and there's a train barreling towards him. Oh wait, wait, WAIT...He made it safely across. Never mind. Carry on with more important calls.
What would you have done?
